The 2014 Commencement Address by Dana Priest

In her address at NCS’s 114th Commencement ceremony, held June 7 in Washington National Cathedral, Washington Post reporter Dana Priest urged the graduates to “keep the heat on” in demanding change and social justice.

Drawing upon her own experiences in journalism, she described how young women can and should foster their own self-confidence in meeting the challenges of the future.

This spring Ms. Priest was named to the Knight Chair in Public Affairs Journalism at the University of Maryland. Starting this fall, she will work with students who will help her research and report investigative stories for The Post. They will also explore new ways to tell these important stories using digital media.

Ms. Priest's daughter, Haley Goodfellow, is a member of the NCS Class of 2014.
