Page Lester '18 Finishes First at ISLs

After a fall season of dominating the field, freshman running standout, Page Lester '18, finished first in the ISL Cross Country Championships in Derwood, MD this past weekend.  Trailing her opponents going into the homestretch, Lester kicked it into high gear and outsprinted everyone to take the individual title of the day.  She finished one second before the next competitor, and helped her team take the third place prize.

Leading the pack is something that Lester has grown accustomed to this year, having finished first in races at Episcopal, Mercersburg and Salesianum this fall.  At the Salesianum Invitational, Page went back and forth with a runner from Archmere Academy for the duration of the race, but she able to outsprint her going down the stretch for a 1st place finish.  In fact, Page's time (19.33) was the fastest time for any female runner on the day in all varsity divisions.

At the Glory Days Invitational, Lester finished third overall with a time of 18:47, marking the first time that an NCS runner has broken 19:00 in a cross-country race in school history.

With her most recent thrilling finish at the ISL Championships, Lester has earned All-ISL honors along with teammates Erin Bell '16 and Isabelle Hupez '15.

Congratulations on an outstanding freshman year, Page!  And, best of luck going into the MD/DC Private School Championships.
