National Cathedral Rows at Stotesbury

The National Cathedral Crew team travelled to Philadelphia last weekend to compete in the prestigious Stotesbury Cup Regatta on the Schuylkill River against some of the fastest teams in the country.  After two long days of racing, two NCS boats placed in the finals and took home prizes.

Cathedral's Second Eight boat cruised through all of the time trials and finished third in the final taking home the Bronze medal.

In the Freshmen Eight Finals, the NCS boat overcame an early deficit and ended up crossing the finish line first by 5 seconds to win Gold.  With this win, the girls brought home the T.C. Williams Freshman Coach Award for the first time since 1998.

The Stotesbury Cup Regatta is the largest high school regatta in the world and races a total of 31 championship events.  Over 5,000 competitors from the best teams in the country race in this regatta in front of nearly 10,000 spectators.

The Cathedral Crew team will be travelling to the 2015 Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) Regatta this weekend on May 22nd and 23rd.  The regatta will take place on the Cooper River in Camden, NJ.  Good luck to all rowers!

Way to go Eagles!
