DC Science Bowl

After a nail-biting final round, NCS earned 2nd place (score 52-50) in this year’s Regional High School Science Bowl, held Saturday, Feb. 22, at Dunbar High School.  It was a narrow miss for first place, which went to Wilson High School.

Please congratulate NCS team members Diana Hla ’16, Isabelle Hupez ‘15, Ellen Kim ‘16, Becky Maksimovic ‘16, and Jennifer Owens ’16 for an outstanding showing! A special thank-you to parents Bill Owens (Jennifer’s father) and Sharon Flank (Becky’s mother) who supported the team that day.

This regional competition is the lead-in to the National Science Bowl (NSB), a highly competitive science education and academic event sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Regional championship teams go on to compete at the national event in Washington, D.C. in May.
