Chorister Voices Heard Beyond the Close

NCS students who are Cathedral Girl Choristers receive a rigorous musical education, and their talents are sought and recognized beyond the Close. Two recent announcements of note:

Grace Brigham ’16 will be singing a solo part when the Georgetown University Orchestra performs Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 5:00 pm in Gaston Hall, 37th and O St., N.W., Washington, DC. Click here for more information about the concert. Chorister Program Manager Cynthia DeDakis says that Grace has dedicated herself to learning this music and working on her performance with the help of her voice teacher Laura Choi Stuart.

Lucie Shelley ’15 has been chosen as a finalist in the Honors Choir for the 2015 High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The competition began earlier in the year, when Lucie was required to submit an audition of several classical pieces, which she sang in various languages. As a finalist, Lucie will perform "Soprano 1" at Carnegie Hall with the Honors Choir  in February. Finalists will practice and then perform under the direction of Dr. Eph Ehly, one of the nation's renowned choral conductors.

We congratulate them both, and are very proud of all of our Choristers!
