 | Every student at NCS is involved in music, drama, or visual art at some point during her school years. As a coordinate program with St. Albans, the visual and performing arts at NCS are truly among the most diverse in the country. At NCS you might find a group of students spending their afternoon practicing the ancient tradition of English change-ringing on Cathedral tower bells, while others are producing a radio drama for the clientele of a local bookstore or participating in a drawing class in sketching in the Bishop's Garden.
Visual Arts students at NCS are outfitted with the best equipment, including electric and kick wheels and kilns for ceramics, and a large black and white photography lab. The beautiful art studio also serves as a classroom and a gallery for the annual Art Show and reception. Young artists can pursue a variety of passions through course offerings such as art history, drawing, bookmaking, painting, ceramics, and traditional and digital photography.
The Performing Arts program offers NCS students another opportunity for self-expression, achievement, social interaction, and—most importantly—fun. The Arts are an active and integral part of a girl's education, fostering empathy, insight, collaboration and creative thought.
The dance division offers classes in modern dance, jazz dance, composition/choreography, yoga, and pilates. There is also a yearly world dance residency. There are performing opportunities with the dance team, the Cathedral dancers, and an annual dance production.
